Remember Pearson
Curiously, Lawrence Martin's otherwise insightful piece ( This Campaign's About Plodders, Not Prophets - April 19), omits any mention of Lester Bowles (Mike) Pearson, the only Canadian PM to win a Nobel Peace Prize, and who, within the five years of his minority leadership, introduced universal health care, the Canada Pension Plan, the student loan program, the Canada-U.S. auto pact and our national flag.
The lessons? Decency, dedication, and determination can achieve more than rhetorical vision, and minority governments, with visionary substantive agendas, can work.
