Canada's Health Minister unveiled $6-million in research dollars Tuesday to help scientists find alternatives to isotopes normally sourced from the reactor at Chalk River, Ont., Anna Mehler Paperny and Gloria Galloway reported in the Globe and Mail Wednesday.

But Members of the nuclear medical community harshly criticized the federal government's response to the isotope crisis Tuesday, arguing that funding announcements are inadequate in the face of rising costs for increasingly scarce radioactive material.

Ms. Galloway has been following the developments at Chalk River and the political fallout in Ottawa since the story began. We're pleased to have her online today at noon, ET, to take questions on the isotope crisis and the Conservatives' reaction.

Please feel free to submit questions for Ms. Galloway at any point during the discussion using the chat window below.
