The Progressive Conservatives have moved a motion that could find Energy Minister Chris Bentley in contempt of Parliament, and which will bring all other business at the Ontario legislature to a halt.
Rob Leone's motion also calls on Mr. Bentley and the Ontario Power Authority to release more documents on two cancelled generating stations in Oakville and Mississauga.
The government released 36,000 pages of documents on the gas plants Monday, but Mr. Leone says there is information missing on the true costs of the Liberals' decisions to cancel the projects.
Mr. Leone says there isn't one document signed by Brad Duguid, who was energy minister when the Liberals decided to cancel the two plants in what the Tories call an expensive tactic to save Liberal seats in those locations.
Mr. Leone says Mr. Bentley is more in contempt now than he was before the documents were released, with the Liberals confirming it will cost taxpayers $230-million to move the two power plants to new locations.
NDP energy critic Peter Tabuns says it cost at least $40-million to save a single Liberal seat in Oakville, and warns it could cost another $200-million to build new transmission lines needed because the power plants were cancelled.
