With pint of beer in hand, RCMP Commissioner William Elliott sings with the Capital City Chorus, a barbershop group.

William Elliott is blunt and direct during interviews and at news conferences. He takes questions straight on and doesn't mince words as he talks about his critics or his plans for the future.

But the RCMP Commissioner mellows when he leaves the office and meets up with his friends in the Capital City Chorus. The barbershop singers perform all over, and Mr. Elliott joins in when time permits. Suddenly, the loud voice - linked to bursts of anger in Mountie circles - becomes smooth and melodious.
