Who moves where after Jay Hill's departure

Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced a mini-shuffle of his cabinet on Friday. The following MPs were involved.

Jay Hill The former Government House Leader announced last month that he had decided not to run in the next election, precipitating the move. The 57-year-old farmer was first elected in 1993. He represents the riding of Prince George-Peace River.

John Baird The pugnacious and prominent Mr. Baird moves from Transport to become Government House Leader. The 41-year-old MP was previously minister of the Environment and president of the Treasury Board.

First elected federally in 2006, he represents the riding of Ottawa West-Nepean in the House of Commons. Before that, he was an MPP in the Ontario government, where he served as government house leader, energy minister and social services minister under Mike Harris.

Chuck Strahl Mr. Strahl leaves Indian Affairs to become Transport Minister. The 53-year-old former logging contractor previously served as agriculture minister and minister for the Canadian Wheat Board. He was also house leader for when the Conservatives were in opposition.

He was first elected as a Reform MP in 1993 and represents the B.C. riding of Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon.

John Duncan Mr. Duncan becomes Indian Affairs Minister, a promotion from his past role as Mr. Strahl's parliamentary secretary. The 61-year-old former consultant and forester was first elected to the House of Commons for the Reform Party in 1993. He lost the 2006 election, and returned to the House of Commons in 2008. He represents the riding of Vancouver Island North.
