The Prince Edward Island Liberal party has released an election platform it says will cost about $25-million more than the current year's budget.

In a news release, Premier Robert Ghiz says a Liberal government would make health care, education and the economy its fundamental priorities.

About half the promised money, $12.95-million, will go to health care initiatives while $2.9-million will go to education and another $2.5-million to energy and the environment.

Meanwhile, the Island Conservatives issued a statement saying the party's platform, including tax breaks, is worth about $60-million.

Tory priorities announced days before the vote include the establishment of a drug program, a home heating subsidy for low-income Islanders and an increase in the personal tax exemption level.

Election day is Monday.
