Today, the New Brunswick paper the Telegraph Journal did the right thing and apologized to the Prime Minister about the ridiculous story of communion not taken at the funeral of former governor-general Romeo Leblanc. This truly was one of the most bizarre tales of the summer. Even the original writers of this story received contrition from their employers for the altering of their piece to allow for this bit of mystical fantasia concerning a supposed missing communion wafer. Perhaps some of the editors believed the spring blockbuster Angels and Demons was a documentary and this clouded their thinking. Your guess is as good as mine as to why they chose to publish a story void of evidence.

To speculate further about how and why the Communion Caper was allowed to take on the life it did would be as much of a sin as running it in the first place. That was Da Vinci Code dumb.
