Third suspected war criminal nabbed in Toronto area

Another suspected war criminal listed on a federal government web site has been arrested by police.

Manuel De La Torre Herrera was arrested yesterday in the Toronto area.

Mr. Herrera is the third suspected war criminal caught since last week, when the federal government launched a web site featuring 30 of the most wanted suspects.

Public Safety Minister Vic Toews says the public response to the web site has been tremendous and tips have been flowing in, although he could not provide figures.

The Canadian Border Services Agency says Mr. Herrera was part of a brutal government regime in Peru, and was denied a refugee claim several years ago.

The agency says Mr. Herrera went underground and was only found this week.
