What's the state of democracy in Canada? How can we get more young people to participate? And how can Canada improve its elections?

On Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. ET, Canada's chief electoral officer Marc Mayrand will take questions from you in a live Q&A.

Mr. Mayrand is promoting ways to get young Canadians more engaged in politics, as part of Canada's Democracy Week.

He has been Canada's chief electoral officer, the independent Officer of Parliament who oversees federal elections, since 2007. Before that, he was Superintendent of Bankruptcy and a law professor.
