Police locked down a Brampton high school and searched room to room after an altercation Tuesday between students escalated into a stabbing.
Peel Regional Police said that a 17-year-old student of St. Roch Catholic Secondary School was taken to hospital with a minor wound.
A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old are in custody. Another person was being sought mid-day Tuesday. All of the people involved were students at the school but none has been identified.
Peel Police Constable Fiona Thivierge said shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon that they did not believe the other suspect was still in the school but that they were searching to be certain. Almost two hours later, the police Twitter account announced that the lockdown had ended.
According to the website of the school, another nearby facility – St. Jean-Marie Vianney – was in what was described as a "hold & secure."
St. Roch was built within the last five years, and houses about 1,400 students from Grades 9 to 12.
A spokesman for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board said police were in the school and he was still waiting for details on what occurred.
