Elderly cyclist struck and killed in east-end collision

Toronto police say an 84-year-old man is dead after his bicycle collided with a car in the city's east end this morning.

Police say they were called to Greenwood Avenue and Plains Road just after 9 a.m.

They say an 81-year-old man was driving his car southbound on Greenwood and the cyclist was riding westbound on Plains.

Both entered the intersection and collided.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
