Eleven-month-old baby dies after being pulled from women's shelter bathtub

An 11-month-old baby has died after being pulled from a bathtub in a Toronto women's shelter.

Police and paramedics were called to a downtown building (near Sherbourne and Gerrard) around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The building is a city-run shelter for pregnant homeless women and homeless women with children.

The child had no pulse and was taken to The Hospital for Sick Children.

Police say they were told the child was not left unattended, and the death isn't being treated as a criminal matter.
