Three people were injured and taken to hospital after an explosion on a boat in Oakville's harbour.

Halton Regional Regional Police say the boat was moored when the blast occurred Saturday afternoon.

Police say a 53-year-old woman from Oshawa was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Her 56-year-old husband suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from hospital.

Police say the third person aboard, a 45-year-old male, was taken to Oakville's Trafalgar Memorial Hospital with undetermined injuries and is in stable condition.

The explosion closed the harbour as police and the Fire Marshall's office try to determine the cause, but investigators say foul play is not suspected.
