A man is dead following a single-vehicle crash on Lake Shore Boulevard in west-end Toronto, 680News is reporting.

The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was the only occupant in the car when it crashed Friday.

The crash occurred at about 6:15 a.m., when the car hit a pole in the eastbound lanes (near the Boulevard Club.)

Police closed the eastbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard from Parkside Drive to Jameson Avenue while they investigated. The closure has resulted in significant delays for eastbound traffic.

This is the city's 58th traffic fatality of the year, surpassing the record of 57 deaths set in 2006.
