Police say a man in his 40s and his three-year-old daughter have been taken to hospital after being pulled from an indoor pool in Mississauga, Ont.

Peel region police say the child is now breathing and alert after paramedics responded to a drowning incident call Saturday morning at an apartment complex on Absolute Avenue near Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road.

They say the man is in stable but critical condition after being taken to hospital without vital signs.

There's no word on what happened at the pool.

Const. George Tudos says the pool was part of a recreational area used by tenants of the buildings.
