The Dude's Passover: The Big Lebowski film screening

In the Coen Brothers' iconic movie, Walter, a gun-toting, quasi-Jew (John Goodman) won't lift a finger on the Shabbos. He won't work. Won't bowl. Won't indulge in the usual crazy shenanigans of his buddies, including the Dude (Jeff Bridges). But fans of the cult film can once again immerse themselves in the Dude's warped world at The Dude's Passover, held Saturday at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema. If you hate the Eagles, can't stand pee on rugs, and love to swill white Russians, you'll fit right in at this $20 event (price includes screening, two drinks, trivia and indoor bowling).

Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Screening at 9:30 p.m. 506 Bloor St. W. 416-637-3123 or bloorcinema.com.

Sigur Ros

Following rave reviews for two recent shows in New York, Sigur Ros followers can listen to the glacier-speed, Icelandic post-rock band at Air Canada Centre for one show tonight. Band members' names are tough to spell, let alone pronounce, but include Jon Por Birgisson, Orri Pall Dyrason, and Georg Holm – a trio whose new song, Brennisteinn (Brimstone) was hailed by Rolling Stone's David Fricke recently as "violent, rude, and irresistible."

Air Canada Centre at 8 p.m. Reserved seating ranges from $36.50 to $66.50. ACC Box Office or 1-855-985-5000.

Soulpepper's True West

Absolutely hilarious. Absolutely dark. That pretty much sums up Sam Shepard's black comedy about two estranged brothers – one a screenwriter, the other a petty thief – who find themselves stuck together in a suburban home with, well, a multitude of long-simmering issues to hammer out. The play kicks off Soulpepper's sweet-16 spring season. Opens April 1 in previews. Official opening night April 3; to May 4. The play runs in repertory with a new Canadian adaptation of La Ronde, so make sure to check the Soulpepper schedule.

Basic tickets $51 or $68. Students $32. Evening performances 7:30 p.m., daytime 1:30 p.m. soulpepper.ca.

Holi – Festival of Colour Celebration

Around the world this past week, the Holi festival was celebrated with great fanfare by Hindu families who basically body paint each other to welcome the spring. It's normally celebrated on the Phalgun Purnima (which was March 27 and 28), but Toronto Hindus will bring in spring today at 2 p.m. at Woodbine Beach Park. The invitation comes with a friendly warning: Be sure to pick up your own artificial colours at your local Indian grocery store if you have any allergies.
