A coroner's inquest has been launched in the death of a man shot by Toronto police.
The Special Investigations Unit ruled last month there were no grounds to lay charges against the officer who shot Michael Eligon.
But the 29-year-old's death has raised concerns about how police are trained to handle people with mental illness.
Mr. Eligon was shot on Feb. 3 after he escaped from Toronto East General Hospital.
Police were responding to reports that a man in a hospital gown was involved in a stabbing incident.
They say an officer opened fire when Mr. Eligon, who was armed with scissors, advanced on police.
