One man is dead and another injured after a double stabbing during a brawl on a Toronto street.

Police say they were called early Sunday to a large fight at the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre in the city's west end (Islington Avenue and Norseman Street).

Paramedics took the man to hospital with a life-threatening chest wound, but he later died.

Police in Mississauga shortly after pulled over a vehicle with people matching the description of those involved in the fight, and one of them was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say the fight occurred during a Tibetan new year's party at the centre, and that revellers may have not realized what was happening.

They're appealing for anyone who was there to contact them.
