Police tape demarking a crime scene.JOHN LEHMANN

Toronto police are looking for three men in the stabbing death of a man in a downtown apartment building.

Officers called to the scene (on Bleecker Street near Sherbourne and Wellesley streets) on Thursday afternoon arrived to find two men suffering from stab wounds.

Police say they believe a confrontation took place in an apartment unit, that the two men in the unit were stabbed and that they then went down the stairs and ran outside, where they collapsed.

Both men were taken to hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the other is recovering from his injuries.

Police believe three suspects left the building using a different stairwell and that one or two of them may have been bleeding.

A post-mortem was scheduled for Friday. Investigators are examining surveillance images and urge anyone with information to contact them.
