The 33-year-old man who was stabbed in the heart as part of a random attack near Yonge and Dundas streets early Wednesday morning was on his way home from the movies, according to Toronto police.

According to Detective Jason Shankaran, the victim was very familiar to the downtown area and is a resident of Toronto.

He was stabbed just after midnight on Wednesday after inadvertently bumping shoulders with two pedestrians along Elm St. while texting on his phone.

"He had gone to watch a movie," said Det. Shankaran. "He was walking home from the movies."

On Thursday morning, investigators identified Cory Galea, 21, as the second suspect involved in the stabbing. According to Det. Shankaran, he is the man who allegedly "had the knife in his hand and struck the blow."

He is known to frequent the area and considered to be armed and dangerous, according to a news release issued by Toronto police.

The victim is still in critical condition although he is descibed as being "stable" and has spoken with his family.

On Wednesday, police arrested 27-year-old Mohamed Ali and charged him with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

A court date has not yet been set.
