Police say they have identified human remains found in a wooded area near a golf course north of Toronto.

York Regional Police say the remains found Sunday near the Uplands Golf and Country Club in Vaughan are those of Robert Hagans, 76, of Toronto.

Hagans was reported missing in July 2011.

Police say the investigation and processing of the scene continues but there's no evidence to suggest foul play.

Investigators began scouring the area around the golf course earlier this week after someone walking through the area found a human skull.
