Toronto Police are releasing few details after executing several search warrants across the city early Thursday morning in relation to a January security truck robbery at Fairview Mall.
Several people were arrested and many items seized after police carried out searches at residences in North York and other parts of Toronto at about 6 a.m., Staff Inspector Mike Earl said.
He did not give specific information about how many were arrested or what was seized because he said the investigation is ongoing and there may be more arrests.
Last month, police announced a reward of up to $10,000 for the arrest and conviction of those involved in the robbery of a G4S Canada armoured truck parked outside the mall near Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East.
Police allege two suspects in a silver Dodge Caravan pulled up alongside the security company's truck and began exchanging gun fire with the guards.
The male suspects allegedly fled with a bag of money and abandoned the van about a kilometre away.
Video of the incident is available on YouTube.
Police said in May that a woman bought the Caravan involved from a Kijiji ad about ten days before the robbery occurred.
Insp. Earl said it's unclear whether she was duped or involved in the robbery, and police were trying to find her.
He said police will release more information about the searches Thursday night or Friday morning.
