A Toronto Police officer from Mississauga was arrested in connection with several child pornography-related charges following a two-month long Peel police investigation.
Peel police began investigating in July after receiving a tip from the Toronto Police.
Dariusz Kisielewski, 44, was arrested after Peel police executed a search warrant at his home on Thursday.
Toronto Police Constable Wendy Drummond said Constable Kisielewski has been suspended with pay.
Peel police's Internet Child Exploitation Unit is alleging the officer used his computer in Mississauga to possess child pornography. Peel police spokesman Constable Matt Small refused to release any details because the investigation is ongoing and he wouldn't discuss Constable Kisielewski's employment with the Toronto Police Service.
"We're not speaking to the employment of someone that we lay charges against," Small said. "It's not related to the charges that are being faced."
Constable Kisielewski is charged with possession of child pornography, making child pornography and three counts of voyeurism.
Constable Drummond could not confirm how long he has served with the Toronto Police, but media reports from 1994 quote him in a story about a Scarborough woman who turned in a large stash of her deceased husband's Second World War-era rifles to police.
Court records from 2006 state that Constable Kisielewski was called to assist Traffic Services with a Polish-speaking man who was charged with impaired driving.
Constable Kisielewski made it onto Ontario's "sunshine list," an annual compilation of public sector employees with a yearly salary of more than $100,000, every year since 2007, except in 2009.
