Police added five new photographs to the most wanted poster of suspected G20 criminals on Friday after a week that saw three new summit-related arrests.
The newly-added Unknown #4 is alleged to have looted a lounge chair from the window display of a furniture store near Yonge and College Streets that was vandalized by rioters and used it to smash another pane-glass window.
Detective Mike Carbone of the G20 investigative team said that 41 charges have now been laid for crimes committed during the June weekend, when a small group of black-clad anarchists trashed stores and torched police cruisers as world leaders discussed global issues in downtown Toronto. Police say that 17 arrests were made as a result of suspect photographs that were released to the public.
The three men arrested this week on assault, mischief and theft charges for crimes committed during the G20 weekend. They were identified as Ryan Rainville, 22, of Waterloo, Samuel Malony-Lee, 22, of Toronto, and Stephen Caswell, 30.
Det. Carbone said police believe Mr. Rainville used a large wooden pole to smash in the front windshield of a scout car at Queen Street and Spadina Avenue while Staff Sergeant Graham Queen sat inside. He has been charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon.
Police have a trove of over 20,000 images submitted by the public and gleaned from CCTV and the internet, and have released dozens of photographs of suspects over the past weeks. Det. Carbone said some of the people whose photographs haven't led to their identification could be from outside the province, and police are "exploring" whether to release those images elsewhere.
