The Toronto District School Board has re-elected Chris Bolton to the position of chair.

Trustees voted Monday night to keep the Mr. Bolton as chair of Canada's largest board.

Mr. Bolton is a former teacher and principal with the Toronto school board. He has represented Ward 10, Trinity-Spadina, since 2003.

The board also elected trustee Mari Rutka to fill the role of vice-chair.

The TDSB is coming off a difficult year. It has faced criticism for the way it spends on construction projects. And a provincial audit is expected shortly on the board's financial management practices.

The board recently announced the appointment of Donna Quan as director after previous director, Chris Spence, resigned amid plagiarism allegations.
