A Toronto bus driver involved in a fatal collision on Lawrence Avenue in August is facing driving and drug charges.

Bus passenger Jadranka Petrova, 43, died Aug. 30 when the Toronto Transit Commission bus crashed into a flatbed trailer carrying a crane.

Thirteen other passengers suffered injuries, including broken noses, broken teeth and neck injuries in the crash just east of the Don Valley Parkway.

Detective Carl Andersen said following the collision that a substance believed to be marijuana was found in the bus driver's possessions.

Det. Anderson said the driver was not tested for drugs after the accident as there was nothing to indicate he had consumed drugs.

William Ainsworth, 51, of Toronto is charged with criminal negligence causing death and possession of marijuana.
