While the prevalence of underweight preschool children has decreased for many African regions, western Africa (in teal, below) is expected to have the highest prevelance on the continent by 2020.

Africa's rate overall (in red, below) has barely registered a change over the past 20 years, declining from 21.5 per cent in 1990 to 19.3 per cent by 2010. Meanwhile, among developing nations (in blue, below), the prevalence of underweight preschool children has decreased in by more than 10 per cent.
