LISTING AGENT Jen Tripp, HomeLife/Realty One Ltd.
The Action: The turnover is low at Sixty Lofts, so this one-bedroom-plus-den suite was among a only a few available in early February. An interior designer staged the vacant space, which was so well received on the first day that it had nearly 20 visitors, including open house guests, and a strong offer just over the $559,000 list price.
What They Got: Built about eight years ago within a two-tower complex, this 942-square-foot unit is a contemporary space with hardwood floors throughout, full height windows and loft-like features, such as 10-foot concrete ceilings and exposed duct work.
Each room flows into the next, starting from open dining and cooking quarters adjacent to an entertaining space with sliding doors to both a balcony and a bedroom, which has his-and-her closets and a full bathroom flanking the walkway back to the front den and foyer.
Kitchen and laundry appliances, a locker and parking come with the unit, which owes $468 monthly towards water and heating, a party room and rooftop deck.
The Agent's Take: "In this particular building, the west exposure is much more sought after because it doesn't have the ambient sound of the street and streetcars, and all the grit it the air … and it is quiet and overlooks a neighbourhood of houses and trees," agent Jen Tripp says.
"The balcony jutted out from the building, so you weren't beside your neighbour and you kind of felt like your balcony was floating eight storeys in the air. And the view of the waterfront, new soccer stadium in the distance and green space of Fort York just fills in around the highway, so it's a really a beautiful view."
Efficiency was also a prized quality in this unit and high-rise. "Here, the architect had married functionality and form together so instead of hallways, there was open space," Ms. Tripp says. "[Plus] what is great about 60 Bathurst is that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, so the maintenance fees are quite reasonable."
