This roughly 80-year-old residence has a modern, upscale design.

The action: Interest was so high for this semi-detached house just 700 meters from Kew Gardens after a weekend of open houses in March that there were three pre-emptive bids by nightfall the next day.

“People love to go to open houses when the weather gets nice … so it was at capacity, which ultimately helped because people could see how many [other] people were interested,” agent Brian Chaput said.

“[Plus], there weren’t a lot of listings at the time and in that price point.”

What they got: This roughly 80-year-old residence has a modern, upscale design with brick walls exposed in one of three bedrooms and the main and lower-level entertaining areas. Both also feature fireplaces.

Glass finishes also add a sleek look throughout the 1,257-square-foot interior, from a frosted sliding door to one of two bathrooms to French doors between the deck and combined kitchen and dining space.

The agent’s take: “It had a great renovation done in the early 2000s,” Mr. Chaput said. “The main floor is open concept with a contemporary feel and it has a great walkout to the backyard with a big deck and custom awning.”

Though the 17-by-102-foot grounds lack parking, essentials are all accessible on foot. “It’s a great pocket that’s really community-based and steps away from Queen Street,” Mr. Chaput said.

“It’s close to good schools – walking distance to Williamson Road and Glen Ames.”
