LISTING AGENT: Jerry Hammond, Hammond International Properties Ltd.

The action: In an established community west of Bayview Golf and Country Club, large properties on tree-lined streets are highly sought-after by many foreign buyers, like the ones who bought this detached house on a 123-by 173-foot lot. Their offer was the third presented to the seller, who accepted it at $4.1-million in late September.

"It's considered to be a prized neighbourhood, considering the size of the lots and it's in such close proximity to Toronto," said agent Jerry Hammond.

"[Plus] Old English Lane has a certain caché about it; it's well known, and it sort of meanders so there are little cul-de-sacs off of it and it curves. It's just a pretty street."

What they got: This two-storey house with an attached double garage is set up for entertaining inside and out.

Outside is set up with a pool, cabana and private backyard. Inside, public quarters are spread across three floors, from a second-floor library to lower-level entertaining and games areas with fireplaces. The main level offers living, dining and family rooms.

Four bedrooms are distributed between the top and lower levels. The master was remodelled, so it now features vaulted ceilings and a six-piece en suite, which is the largest of four bathrooms.

The agent's take: "There are a lot of tear downs, some newer ones and this was an older home that was totally renovated about eight years ago," said Mr. Hammond.

"And [the sellers] spent a fortune on the backyard so it's an oasis with your own cabana, waterfall, pool and jacuzzi."
