Bombardier’s Challenger 350 business jet.

Bombardier Inc. has clinched orders for 32 business jets valued at about $1.3-billion (U.S.) in two separate deals announced at the Paris Air Show.

Montreal-based Bombardier said on Tuesday that luxury charter operator VistaJet has placed firm orders for 20 Challenger 350 jets and taken options on an additional 20 of the planes.

The firm order transaction is valued at about $518-million, based on 2013 list prices. If all the options are exercised the total value of the order is about $1.035-billion, the company said.

Deliveries are to start in mid-2014.

Bombardier also said on Tuesday it has received firm orders for 12 Global 8000 business jets from an undisclosed customer. The value of that deal is about $804-million, based on list prices for "typically equipped aircraft."

The VistaJet order follows last November's blockbuster $3.1-billion order from the same company of 56 Global business jets.

If all options on another 86 Global aircraft are exercised, the deal would swell to $7.8-billion.

The Global is rated as the world's predominant large-cabin, ultra-range business jet, but it faces competition from Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.'s new G650.

The Challenger 350 is a super-midsize aircraft with an intercontinental range of 5,926 kilometres.
