North American workers aren't a happy group these days, a new survey shows. A survey by Right Management found that nearly half of workers (44 per cent) are unsatisfied with their current job.
Only 19 per cent are satisfied with their position, according to the survey of more than 400 Canadian and U.S. workers.
Michael Haid, senior vice-president of talent management for Right Management, which is part of Manpower Group, said low job satisfaction has an impact on productivity, recruitment and retention.
He said the best tool for companies is to encourage workers to be involved in their career development. "Employees may feel stuck, but this shouldn't mean they can't grow. …They should see that their employer is willing to invest in learning and training. In that way, they may progress in their present company and ultimately move into a new job when positions become available."
