Every now and then a picture crosses the photo wires that reminds editors why they got into journalism. Okay, so breaking news and encouraging public discourse is important. But sometimes Darth Vader shows up at the New York Stock Exchange after a year of unprecedented investor pain. And we get to write the caption. Or you do.

Thanks to everyone who submitted captions. The best one will appear in Wednesday's Report on Business, page B2. Yes, The Globe reserves the right to edit, and please include your real name, which will be published with the caption.

For background, here is the caption the Associated Press filed with the picture today:

"Darth Vader is escorted by storm troopers while touring the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 in New York. To celebrate the lasting appeal of the Star Wars saga, Lucasfilm Ltd. executives and the Star Wars characters visited the exchange and rang the opening bell."
