Apple Inc. on Tuesday joined the list of technology companies exposing the underbelly of their white, male workforces to public scrutiny by releasing employee diversity statistics.

While the iPhone maker isn't the whitest company in this chart list, it is still as shockingly male as the rest of the industry – particularly among its non-retail tech employees, who are 80 per cent male.

CEO Tim Cook went so far as to release a statement vowing change: "I'm not satisfied with the numbers on this page. They're not new to us and we've been working hard for quite some time to improve … we're committed to being as innovative in advancing diversity as we are in developing our products."
