The Queen's Centre for Business Venturing, in conjunction with HR consulting company Hewitt Associates, released its list this week of the best small and medium-sized employers in the country.
Companies with 50 to 399 permanent employees were eligible, and winners were chosen based on worker engagement.
"This reflects employers' attention to the 'people side' of their enterprises during both the good and the not-so-good times," says Einar Westerlund, director of project development at QCBV, an offshoot of Queen's School of Business. "The best continue to achieve success by paying disciplined attention to the basics of effective human resources management, with special strength shown in how their people's performance is managed."
