Dentons LLP has picked up yet another former Heenan Blaikie LLP partner, this time in Vancouver.

Jillian Frank, who was an employment lawyer with Heenan Blaikie before the national firm surprised many and abruptly disintegrated earlier this year, at first moved with others fleeing Heenan's ruins to a newly formed Vancouver boutique: Gall Legge Grant & Munroe LLP.

But Dentons – the new global firm of which the former Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP is a part – announced Thursday that Ms. Frank was now joining its ranks in Vancouver as a partner. The move comes just 10 months after she joined Gall Legge Grant & Munroe, which now has 14 lawyers, according to its website.

Ms. Frank had just made partner at Heenan Blaikie in January 2013, about a year before the firm voted to dissolve after a rash of partner defections.

After the collapse, Dentons absorbed more than 45 new lawyers from Heenan Blaikie, mostly in Toronto and Montreal. Among those new hires was former prime minister Jean Chrétien.

Also Thursday, Dentons announced two other hires in its Vancouver office: Claude Marchessault and Tejbir Sandhar, who both join as counsel to the firm, and are not equity partners. Mr. Marchessault is a pensions specialist formerly of Vancouver firm Harris & Co. LLP. Mr. Sandhar is a corporate-commerical lawyer who spent nine years working in the Middle East and Asia. Dentons says he will be a "valuable addition to our India initiative."
