Whistleblower windfall

Well, cash bonuses may be down, but it turns out that the financial reform bill in the United States has created another way to get a multi-million dollar check: Become a whistleblower. The Financial Times reports that the new bill's payouts to tipsters may create a surge in allegations of wrongdoing.

Who'll buy oil? Mr. Icahn can!

Energy stocks had a horrible quarter with oil prices dropping and crude spewing into the Gulf of Mexico, but there was at least one big buyer. Bloomberg News reports that Carl Icahn was stuffing almost $1-billion (U.S.) into the sector in the second quarter.

The BlackBerry messenger service that the Saudi Arabian government is concerned about and looking at shutting down is a big player in the cloistered dating scene in the country, according to Bloomberg News.
