The oil-patch deal resurgence appears to be prompting some capital markets professionals to seek out new roles in Calgary and beyond.

Mark Reynolds, who was the head energy banker at Paradigm Capital Inc., has joined AltaCorp Capital Inc. as managing director of investment banking. Mr. Reynolds had signed on with Paradigm a little more than a year ago, having left Haywood Securities.

In other moves, Brian Purdy, who was oil-field service analyst at Global Hunter Securities in Calgary before the U.S.-based brokerage shrunk the operation, has joined PI Financial Corp.

Morgan Stanley has hired Dave Scribner, who was an investment banking associate at CIBC World Markets. Kyle Balaux has left his research associate position at CIBC to take a posting with the hedge fund Citadel LLC in New York.
