Royal Bank of Canada's investment banking division has hired Sasson Darwish to oversee its plan to bring together different parts of technology investment banking.

Mr. Darwish will be a managing director in the U.S. technology group, charged with running the firm's "convergence of silos across the technology sector." His experience is in areas such as telecom, software and internet gear. He will also be in charge of covering Israel.

Mr. Darwish was recently running his own advisory firm, DS Advisory Group. Before that, he was head of technology banking in the Americas for Nomura. And before that, he was head of east coast coverage for technology at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
