The company – and others in the sector – also benefit from generous provincial tax credits.

Ubisoft first set up shop in Montreal in 1997 with a development studio for console and PC video games.

It's growth has helped make Quebec one of the top digital-games centres in the world.

The Quebec City studio – which now employ about 320 people – was established in 2005 and participates in the development of online, connected and mobile gaming platforms.

"We're pleased to be reinforcing our presence and our expertise in Quebec City with the help of the Quebec government," said Ubisoft co-founder Yves Guillemot.

"Our Quebec City studio has demonstrated its ability to manage large-scale projects and it is a natural progression to entrust the team with the production of AAA next-gen games."
