Zipcar coming to Toronto’s Pearson airportPeter Power/The Globe and Mail

Car sharing operator Zipcar Inc. is making its vehicles available at Pearson International Airport in Toronto as part of an expansion of its offerings to 10 airports in North America from the current two.

The expansion broadens out the company's offerings beyond London City Airport and the two New York-area airports where it's currently operating to Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Palm Beach, Fla., and other U.S. cities in addition to Toronto. Reservations can be made for cars at those locations immediately, Zipcar said Thursday.

The company's cars will be made available at branded parking spaces next to Avis rental company spots at each of the airports.

Zipcar is one of several car sharing programs that make vehicles available to members on a short or medium-term basis.

The costs of using the service from the airport locations starts at $9 (U.S.) an hour and goes to $69 to $89 a day depending on the city, the type of plan of the member reserving the vehicle and the type of vehicle reserved.
