The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled catcher/infielder Yan Gomes from triple-A Las Vegas.

Gomes is hitting .340 in 65 games with Las Vegas this season with 11 home runs, 47 RBIs and 26 doubles.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Brazilian was called up earlier this season and hit .211 with three homers and eight RBIs in 14 games with the Blue Jays.

To make room on the roster, Toronto optioned right-handed reliever Sam Dyson to double-A New Hampshire.

Dyson made just two relief appearances for Toronto and allowed three earned runs without finishing an inning.

The Blue Jays open a three-game series in Boston on Friday.
