The Toronto Blue Jays selected the contract of second baseman Chris Getz from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday and released right-hander Mickey Storey.

Getz hit .309 with nine RBIs and six stolen bases in 18 games for the Bisons this season.

The 30-year-old native of Southfield, Mich., has played in 449 career major-league games for the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals over six seasons.

The callup came a day after second baseman Ryan Goins was optioned to Buffalo. He hit .150 in 25 games for the Blue Jays with one home run and one RBI.

Storey, who did not pitch for the Blue Jays this season, made four appearances for the Bisons this year. He was 0-1 with a 10.80 earned-run average over 3 1-3 innings.
