To no one's surprise, it appears the Toronto Blue Jays will lose another coach to the Boston Red Sox in Torey Lovullo.

Reports out of both Boston and Toronto say that the 47-year-old is going to follow his friend, John Farrell, over to the Red Sox to become Farrell's bench coach.

Farrell was officially introduced as Boston's new manager on Tuesday after the former Blue Jays manager was traded by the team along with pitcher Dave Carpenter in exchange for utility infielder Mike Aviles.

The move was expected.

When Farrell became the Blue Jays coach in 2011 one of his first moves was to appoint Lovullo as the Toronto first base coach.

Lovullo had been the manager at Boston's Triple-A affiliate at Pawtucket.

The Red Sox have not yet officially confirmed the move.

When Blue Jay general manager Alex Anthopoulos confirmed on Sunday that Farrell had been traded to the Red Sox, he said that all of Farrell's assistants in Toronto were free to pursue whatever job opportunities.

The fate of Toronto's remaining coaches from last year, including bench coach Brian Butterfield, batting coach Dwayne Murphy, pitching coach Bruce Walton, bullpen coach Pete Walker and coaching assistant Luis Rivera remains uncertain.

Bench coach Don Wakamatsu has already informed the Blue Jays that he is interested in taking over for Farrell and the next Blue Jays manager.
