The Toronto Blue Jays have announced the singing of infielder Mark DeRosa to a one year $750,000 contract for the 2013 Major League Baseball season with a club option for 2014.

DeRosa, 37, batted .188 with five doubles and six runs batted in 48 games for the Washington Nationals last season.

The 6-1, 205 pound right-handed hitter will be entering his 16th major league season having also played for the Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants.

In 1153 career games, the Passaic, N.J., native has posted a .270 average with 93 home runs and 458 RBI.

To make room on the 40-man roster pitcher Sam Dyson has been designated for assignment.
