Colby Rasmus will be rejoining the Toronto Blue Jays in New York.
The American League club made the announcement following their 3-1 loss to the Yankees Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium in the first game of a three-game series between the two East Division rivals.
To make room for Rasmus on the roster the Blue Jays have sent Anthony Gose, who has been starting in centerfield during Rasmus' absence, back to Triple-A in Buffalo.
"Colby's coming back and that's just the way the team's set up," Toronto manager John Gibbons said. "I will say, Anthony through our hot stretch we had, he was in the middle of everything, whether it was getting a big hit, getting on base, a bunt, his defence. We wouldn't be where we're at right now without him, I guarantee you that.
'So he'll go back down and keep playing. He'll be back."
Rasmus went on the disabled list back on May 13 with a right hamstring strain and would miss the next 32 games in which the Blue Jays went 22-10.
