Brandon Morrow, who has been out of the Toronto Blue Jays lineup since June, will now be making two minor-league starts before the American League club decides he is ready to rejoin the team.

The starting pitcher, who is recovering from a left oblique muscle strain suffered June 11, will make his second appearance since the injury with Double-A New Hampshire on Tuesday.

Blue Jays manager John Farrell said on Monday that Morrow will also make a second start at the minor-league level.

"To get him to what we feel is a comfortable level of 85 pitches at the minor league level before coming back here, he's going to need two more starts to accomplish that," Farrell explained.

That would put Morrow on a timetable of sometime next week before he could mark his return to the Blue Jays.

Third baseman Brett Lawrie, who went on the 15-day disabled list on Aug. 4, also with a sore oblique, will also need to get a couple of minor-league games under his belt before he returns to the Blue Jays.

"Talking to him over the weekend he feels improved as far as just the movements that he's being put through in rehab right now," Farrell said. "Ideal situation he gets into some games later this week or the weekend down in Florida."
