Travis Snider's frustrating 2011 season is effectively over.

The Toronto Blue Jays prospect has been diagnosed with tendinitis in his right wrist and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks.

The 23-year-old outfielder, who started the year with Toronto, was sent by the down to triple-A Las Vegas for the second time this season when the team recalled Brett Lawrie on Aug. 4.

Snider was originally demoted 25 games into the regular season after struggling mightily at the plate.

He made a swing adjustment in Las Vegas and was recalled by the Blue Jays on July 4, showing signs that he had found his groove.

But Snider, who was expected to be September callup with Toronto, fell behind Eric Thames in the outfield pecking order during a 6-for-44 slump and was again demoted.

Without revealing any details, Snider made a vague reference on Twitter on Thursday, writing: "I will not break. I promise you that. I will miss you all and can't say how thankful I am for your support on this journey.
