Though he's no doctor, Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Sam Fuld thinks he and Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista have pretty much the same injury.
Like Fuld, Baustista is heading to see surgeon Thomas Graham in Cleveland for a destabilized sheath that houses a tendon in his wrist, and to hear the Rays outfielder tell it, the procedure is relatively straightforward.
"For me he just anchored the sheath down onto the bone," Fuld said. "He shaved the bone down, the tendon sits in a little groove there, and he actually flattened that groove out and then he anchors the sheath down on it. In the past surgeons had tried to deepen that groove to let that tendon sit deeper in that groove but Dr. Graham prefers kind of flattening it out, thinking it has less room to roll around if it's a flat surface and he's had nothing but great results from that."
