Miami Marlins president David Samson will reportedly be among the contestants for the next instalment of the "Survivor" series, according to reports out of South Florida.

CBS has yet to reveal who the 18 players will be for the 27th edition of the show except to say that contestants will be divided into three tribes: brains, brawn and beauty.

The long-running reality series was filmed last summer in the Philippines and the Sun Sentinel newspaper in Florida notes that Samson was far less visible during that period, which could explain his participation in the show. Samson would neither confirm nor deny the Survivor reports.

The Sun Sentinel notes that Samson is an accomplished athlete, having competed in several marathons and the 2006 Ironman World Championship Triathlon in Hawaii.

Contestants on Survivor battle the elements and other players while competing in challenges for rewards and immunity. Players are voted off each week until the last two or three face a jury of previously banished players, who in turn vote for a winner who receives $1-million.
